Kosmos Energy's supply vessel Geo Service 1 was observed yesterday in occupied Western Sahara.
Kosmos Energy is helping Morocco in its illegal oil exploration in Western Sahara.
May 30, WSRW revealed that Kosmos Energy had commenced its last seismic studies offshore the occupied territory of Western Sahara.
The main ship doing the study is the BGP Prospector, owned by a subsidary of the Chinese national oil company CNPC. In addition, WSRW reported on four other supply vessels helping that mother ship for the exploration.
The Geo Service 1, spotted in Dakhla 4 July 2014 is part of these supply vessels. That same supply vessel also took part in Total's exploration round on the Anzarane block off Dakhla in 2012-2013.
The UN has stated that any further oil exploration in Western Sahara will be in violation of international law. Morocco will deploy the first oil rig ever in the occupied territory within 2-3 months. The rig is currently testing offshore Korea.
Morocco has occupied parts of Western Sahara since 1975, in violation of international law. Its groundless claims on the territory were rejected by the International Court of Justice.
