Up to now the disputed territory of Western Sahara has been the preserve of the Moroccan military which has built up a thriving business, particularly in fisheries, to provide an anchor to Moroccan claims on the region. 

Now, however, the area has begun attracting investors from the Gulf. Quadra Holding, a UAE group that invests in tourist resorts (the Moulay Bouselham resort, with Addoha) has sent a delegation to the Dakla-Oued Eeddahab-Lagouira region to scout for opportunities in fisheries and agriculture.

Addoha has finally joined forces with Jamai to each buy 50% of Saudi Arabia’s Beladi company. The two Moroccan real estate companies initially competed with one another for Beladi.


 

Ryanair announces flights to occupied territory

The Irish airline has announced a new route to Dakhla in “Morocco”, praising the occupying power for its ”support and vision in securing this major investment".
